In short: 4 offices in Nigeria verify, attest or issue the papers a student visa asks for. For each: what it does, the official portal, the steps, the fee as its official page prints it and its offices, read on 16 October 2026.
Federal Ministry of Education - authentication and evaluation of academic credentials (ESSVerify)
Authenticates Nigerian academic certificates and transcripts. Since the press release of 15 April 2026 this is fully online; no physical visit.
Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Document Authentication
Authenticates (legalizes) Nigerian business, educational and legal documents, including birth certificates, for use abroad. Nigeria is not listed as a party to the Apostille Convention (HCCH table), so documents are authenticated, not apostilled.
Buy a verification PIN on the portal (pay online by card or at a First Bank branch). A PIN works for one year and up to five times for the same exam number.
Enter the PIN, exam type, exam year and exam number, then click Verify Now.
Institutions can log in separately to verify results.
