Germany student visa: the official document checklist

In short: the National (D) visa for study (Section 16b Residence Act) for Germany asks for 14 documents from every applicant, and 10 more when they apply to you. This list follows the official checklist the Germany mission publishes for applicants in Pakistan, read on 16 October 2026. (official source, checked 16 October 2026)

Where applicants in Pakistan submit: Register and upload all documents on the Federal Foreign Office Consular Services Portal. A visa officer screens them, then either gives you an appointment or asks for corrected documents. Embassy Islamabad covers Islamabad Capital Territory, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJK and Punjab; the Consulate General Karachi covers Sindh and Balochistan.

Passport: Islamabad leaflet (Stand 10/2023): copies of the first two pages; 'validity of passport: at least one year plus three months'.
